About Bourke O'Brien Kennedy

Conveniently located in the Melbourne CBD, Bourke O'Brien Kennedy is a firm of Chartered Accountants and Tax Agents. The firm is headed by Director Shane O'Brien and Consultants Terry Kennedy, Euan Evans and Patrick Bourke. Shane, Terry, Euan and Patrick have many years' experience in public practice and enjoy working closely alongside their clients together with their highly committed professional and secretarial staff.

Traditional services of taxation and accounting compliance are offered as well as financial management, succession planing, estate planning, business structuring and the facilitation of investment/financial planning and superannuation services through its associates.

Shane is also a CA SMSF (Self Managed Superannuation Fund) specialist and SMSF approved auditor.

The firm boasts a broad list of clients that encompasses all entity types including companies, trusts, superannuation funds, partnerships, joint ventures, individuals and sole traders. Graduating from University of Melbourne in 1985, Shane completed his training and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1988. He specialises in taxation, corporate and business advisory and is a CA SMSF Specialist and approved SMSF auditor. Shane enjoys working very closely with BOK clients gaining satisfaction in assisting them in achieving their financial objectives.

Shane is a sports enthusiast (ardent Carlton supporter) and enjoys spending quality time with his friends and family. Shane is also known for his unique and colourful singing style.

Gordon James (Terry) Kennedy FCA - gjk@bok.com.au - Consultant

Terry completed his training and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977, at which point he commenced practice where he predominantly worked with small to medium sized businesses. Terry has been a business and taxation adviser for over 50 years and his personal relationships with clients allows him to be a sounding board and an effective problem solver.

Terry has a passion for classical and chamber music and is an avid reader on a broad range of subjects. And he is also a renowned Sudoku player.

Euan Evans – ee@bok.com.au - CPA

Euan has many years of experience in public practice and is widely known and respected in the industry for his wise counsel. He prides himself on forming enduring relationships with his clients.

A round of golf (please ask him about the number of his holes in one), spending quality time with his family and the odd glass of red wine keeps Euan busy outside of work.

Tanya Tescher – tt@bok.com.au - Senior Tax Accountant

Tanya has been a Chartered Accountant for over 30 years and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University as well as a Diploma of Applied Science. Tanya has worked in tax, property development, audit, and management accounting, giving her a perspective on a wide variety of areas, both taxation and accounting.

Tanya has also been involved with local government having served as a local government councillor and is now president of a ratepayers and residents association. If you have any local government issues, Tanya will be your advocate.

Sunny joined BOK in 2012. She is a qualified CPA and self–managed super fund specialist. Sunny is adept at communicating and liaising with clients in a very professional and friendly way. She also prides herself on keeping up to date with changes to taxation law and ensuring that our clients’ affairs are considered in light of the current tax regulatory environment.

Angela has extensive experience in public practice accounting with more than 30 years’ experience in accounting, taxation and business services. Angela has a personal approach and likes to stay very connected with clients.

Julia joined the team in 2004 during her first year of university. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Financial Planning), Julia furthered her studies by becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant. Julia enjoys the close client relationships made over the years and being a part of the BOK family.

Outside of work, Julia is kept busy with family life and running around after and controlling her three young boys and her husband.

Myrna Schiavello – ms@bok.com.au - Business Services Manager

Myrna completed her Bachelor of Business (Accounting/Banking and Finance) from Monash University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. She began her career as a graduate trainee with Bourke O’Brien in 1997. Myrna took a break from professional practice to work in a privately owned international company which gave her invaluable insight into business operations and the challenges faced by small businesses. Myrna has now returned to public practice, and re-joined our team in 2021.

Myrna is dedicated to her family and spends an inordinate amount of time ferrying her children to a multitude of sporting and extracurricular activities.

Sue has been a vital and central member of BOK for more than 10 years. Sue is our expert in all matters; accounting and bookkeeping systems and works closely with both clients and her colleagues in this regard. Sue is renowned for her attention to detail and her ability to multi-task.

In her free time, Sue enjoys an eclectic life in the hipster north and has a full social calendar which involves spoiling family and friends alike.

Mary-Anne Barrett – bok@bok.com.au - Office Manager

Mary-Anne (Mez) has been with BOK for over 10 years and is an integral part of our team, supporting her BOK colleagues and the day-to-day operations of the business. Mez is the “face and voice” of BOK as she is your first point of contact when you visit or phone our office. It is also well known that you don’t mess with Mez.

When not at work, Mez enjoys catching up with family and friends, travelling and drinking champagne.

Caitlin Jolly – cj@bok.com.au - Office Coordinator

Caitlin joined our administration team in 2021 and automatically became our IT guru, being our youngest staff member. Drawing on her previous experience in the media and events industries, Caitlin enjoys assisting the team with daily administration tasks as well as communicating with and meeting the needs of our clients.

Outside of work Caitlin enjoys travel, live music and discovering new cafes and restaurants, especially in the Williamstown area. So don’t hesitate to give Caitlin a call should you require any recommendations.
